Trinity and S’Thomas to tee off in Lakshman Kadirgamar Golf Tournament

The stage is set for an exciting showdown on the greens as Trinity College and S’Thomas’ College tee off in the 3rd edition of the Lakshman Kadirgamar Trophy Golf Tournament on 20 June Royal Colombo Golf Club, continuing a tradition that honours the memory of the late Foreign Minister and celebrated alumnus, Lakshman Kadirgamar.

Tee off is at 12 noon.

At present series is locked at one each with both outfits are poised for an all-out battle to secure an outright series win in what is expected to be a thrilling encounter. The tournament will feature 45 players from both institutions, with representation from both local and overseas old boys with the growing stature and international appeal of the event.

Trinity will be led by Surain Prematilake, while S’Thomas’ College will be captained by the experienced Shiran Zoysa. The Stableford scoring format will be used, offering an exciting and inclusive structure that rewards consistency and encourages aggressive play.

The Lakshman Kadirgamar Trophy, inaugurated to celebrate the sporting camaraderie between the two esteemed institutions, has grown in popularity and prestige over the years. The format encourages participation from a broad range of players from seasoned golfers to enthusiastic amateurs in the spirit of sportsmanship and unity.

The Chief Guest for the evening will be Suganthi Kadirgamar, whose presence will add profound meaning to the occasion, commemorating her late husband’s legacy and lifelong belief in unity, discipline, and excellence.
