Trincomalee Sharks finish as runners-up in inaugural Ceylon Golf League

The Trincomalee Sharks delivered a powerful statement at the inaugural Ceylon Golf League (CGL) tournament, finishing as runners-up in a highly competitive field of eight franchises.

The three-day tournament, held from 5 to 7 December, showcased exceptional golfing talent and set a new benchmark for the sport in Sri Lanka.

In a nail-biting finish that captivated spectators until the very end, the championship hinged on the final two holes of the last game, where the Sharks narrowly missed securing the title. Their poise under pressure, strategic play, and unwavering team spirit earned widespread respect across the League.

The franchise extended heartfelt appreciation to the entire team, led by Team Captain Sachin De Silva, whose leadership was instrumental throughout the tournament. The Sharks also recognised the tremendous commitment of Team Co-Owner Richard Gunawardene and Team Coach Binupa Wijesinghe, together with an outstanding group of players including Ayaan Gunasekara, Chris Benjamin, Deepani Gamage, Dhinuka Boralessa, Genuli Weerakoon, Husni Uwise, Kamlesh Johnpillai, Kumudu Gunasekara, Lalith Rohitha, Niloo Jayathilake, P.D.S.U. Kumara, Sajan Wickramasuriya, Thejas Kanth, and Y.K. Chung. Each contributed significantly to the team’s journey, reflecting true sportsmanship and unity.
