India ‘A’ batsmen revelled on a flat Galle International Cricket Stadium track to pile up a first day total of 333-4 against Sri Lanka ‘A’ in the first 4-day unofficial test yesterday.
India’s left-handed Test opener Sai Sudharsan made capital use of the surface to lead the run parade with a brilliant century – 132 off 175 balls (19 fours) sharing in partnerships of 82 for the first wicket with Aayush Pandey (25) and 85 for the third with Ruturaj Gaikwad (22).
By stumps, skipper Dhruv Jurel (68* off 138 balls, 5 fours) and Shaik Rasheed (53* off 92 balls, 4 fours) had an unfinished partnership of 116 against their names.
The wickets were taken by spinners Ravindu Fernando (1/87 off 22 overs) and Dilum Sudeera (2/98 off 29) while the three pacies managed just one wicket between them. The match continues on its second day today. – [ST]
