Deneth Peiris top-scored for Panadura

Panadura SC ran out of time to pull off an outright win against Ragama CC in their SLC Under-23 Emerging club two-day fixture which ended in a draw at the Panadura esplanade yesterday.
Panadura SC had to be content with a first innings win after scoring 349-8 declared in reply to Ragama CC’s first innings of 194. Panadura SC however did well to dismiss Ragama CC a second time for 175 but didn’t have enough time on their hands to chase down the 21 runs required for victory.
Left-arm spinner Mevindu Kumarasiri who had six wickets in the first innings took a further three to finish with a match bag of 9/64. He was complimented by another similar bowler Vishwa Lahiru who took six wickets in the match including 4/61 in the second innings. Sanithu Amarasinghe top scored for Ragama CC with 63 off 77 balls (8 fours, 2 sixes).
Four half-centuries featured in the Panadura SC innings. Kavindu Anameth scored 59 off 112 balls (8 fours), Deneth Peiris 76 off 107 balls (11 fours), Kanchana de Livera 52 off 48 balls (5 fours, 2 sixes) and Sasindu Malshan 57 off 44 balls (9 fours). Anameth and Charya Paranawithana (39) added 97 for the second wicket, and Peiris and de Livera a further 109 for the fourth. – [ST]
