Sri Lanka’s One-Day International cricketer Thisara Perera, captaining Sri Lanka Army SC in the ongoing SLC Major Limited Over inter-club cricket tournament, set a new record for hitting sixes when he became the first Sri Lankan to score six sixes in an over in any form of domestic cricket.

Perera hit Bloomfield’s part-time off-spinner Dilhan Cooray for the record, racing to his half-century off 13 balls – the second fastest by a Sri Lankan after Kaushalya Weeraratne, who scored it in 12 balls.

Other batsmen who have achieved this feat are Sir Garfield Sobers, Ravi Shastri, Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh, Ross Whitely, Hazratullah Zazai, Leo Carter and Kieron Pollard. (ST)
