Thatheera Perera

D.S. Senanayake will head into the 2026 schools rugby season with confidence and ambition as they celebrate a major milestone—50 years of rugby under the leadership of dynamic centre Tatheera Perera.

A hard-running and composed midfielder, Perera has been part of the first XV setup since 2022, having taken up the sport at the age of 11. His leadership credentials were further enhanced by his inclusion in the Sri Lanka Under-18 national sevens squad in 2024.

He will be well supported by two dependable Deputies, Praveen Lakmal and Chamith Samarasinghe, forming a strong and balanced on-field leadership group capable of guiding the side through demanding fixtures.

The team will have experienced and respected panel led by Sri Lanka Women’s Head Coach and Sri Lanka Air Force Head Coach Asela Deshapriya. He will be ably assisted by Ashane Dassanayake, while Dinesh de Silva will oversee backline development, adding tactical sharpness and attacking structure to the outfit.

D.S. Senanayake enjoyed a productive 2025 campaign, winning seven of their nine League fixtures to emerge Plate Champions, before ending at the quarter-final stage of the Knockout tournament. (SJ)
