Sachin Tendulkar has dismissed speculation that he may contest for the post of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In a statement issued through SRT Sports Management, the former cricketer said there was no truth to reports linking him with the position.

“It has come to our attention that certain reports and rumours have been circulating regarding Sachin Tendulkar being considered, or nominated, for the position of President of the BCCI. We wish to categorically state that no such development has taken place. We urge all concerned to refrain from giving credence to unfounded speculations,” the statement read.

The BCCI will elect its next President on 28 September, when Roger Binny’s three-year tenure comes to an end. Binny succeeded Sourav Ganguly in 2022, who had held the post since 2019.
