Sri Lanka ‘A’ Captain Sahan Arachchige celebrates reaching a century

India ‘A’ pacie Gurnoor Brar picked up three wickets yesterday to end with figures of 4/77
Sai Sudharsan and Devdutt Padikkal put together an unfinished second wicket partnership of 181 to place India ‘A’ in a strong position at the end of the second day of the second unofficial 4-day Test played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Left-hander Sudarshan from Tamil Nadu completed his 10th first-class century before the close to remain unbeaten on 104 scored off 184 balls (13 fours) as India ‘A’ replying to Sri Lanka ‘A’s first innings of 366 closed on 247-1.
Padikkal, also a left-hander from Kerala was six short of what will also be his 10th first-class century having so far faced 151 balls and hit 11 fours.
Sri Lanka ‘A’s only success was the wicket of Aman Mokhade for 38.
The Sudharsan-Padikkal partnership overshadowed Sri Lanka ‘A’ skipper Sahan Arachchige’s ninth first-class hundred which helped Sri Lanka ‘A’ to their final total. Arachchige held firm from one end batting 207 balls for 127 (13 fours, 2 sixes) and was ninth out at 362 after Sri Lanka ‘A’ had resumed from their overnight total of 288-5.
Punjab’s right-arm fast bowler Gurnoor Brar picked up three wickets yesterday including that of Arachchige whom he castled to finish with figures of 4/77 off 22 overs. Off-spinner Saransh Jain accounted for four of the wickets, while seamer Yash Thakur picked up the remaining two.
India ‘A’ trail Sri Lanka ‘A’ by 119 runs with nine wickets in hand and will look to gain a substantial first innings lead when play continues on the third day today. – [ST]
