Sri Lions International has unveiled an ambitious roadmap for the 2026/27 season following its Annual General Meeting in Colombo, where the club reviewed an impressive 2025/26 season, presented annual awards and confirmed its new Executive Committee.

The club’s major highlight was retaining the Dubai 7’s International Open Men’s title for the second consecutive year after a commanding 45–7 victory over the United Kingdom’s Wyvern Harlequins. Sri Lions became the first Asian side to win the prestigious competition in consecutive years.

The club also completed a second season in Sri Lanka’s A-Division rugby, with more than 40 players representing the team during the campaign and several progressing to national trials.

Thilini Waththegedara was named Lioness of the Year, while Denuwan Lakranda Silva received the Lion of the Year award. Thushari Abeykoon was honoured with the Sri Lions Cap for her longstanding contribution to the club.

Looking ahead, Sri Lions plans to formally add hockey and football, while introducing tape-ball cricket and kabaddi in Sri Lanka. The club has also confirmed participation in the Dubai 7’s Rugby International Men’s Open and Gulf Netball Social, alongside longer-term plans for an international sports complex in Sri Lanka.
