Viran Chamuditha top-scored with 87 and captured 2/31
Sri Lanka under19 cricketers warmed up for the upcoming ICC Men’s Under19 Cricket World Cup with a 12-run win (DLS method) in a warm-up match against South Africa at Windhoek.
Choosing to bat Sri Lanka were given a splendid start by openers Dimantha Mahavithana (45 off 66 balls, 2 fours, 1 six) and Viran Chamuditha (87 off 93 balls, 8 fours) who put on exactly 100.
Kavija Gamage scored 48 off 56 balls (2 fours, 1 six) but the rest of the batting flopped as Sri Lanka lost their last six wickets for 24 runs to be all out for 225 failing to play out their full quota of 50 overs.
South Africa were bowled out for 163, their target being revised to 176 from 34 overs. Chamuditha followed his 87 with 2/31 bowling left-arm spin.
Sri Lanka play their second warm-up game against Afghanistan tomorrow before their opening World Cup match against Japan on 17 January.
