The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka has announced a strong and diverse contingent for the Asian Beach Games, set to take place from 22 to 30 April in Sanya, China.

The sixth edition of the Games will see Sri Lanka represented across multiple beach and aquatic disciplines, reflecting the country’s growing presence in coastal sports. The Sri Lankan contingent will comprise 77 members, including 37 female athletes.

Aquatics will be represented in open water swimming, while 3x3 basketball includes both men’s and women’s teams, highlighting the sport’s rising popularity in the island nation. Athletics forms a major component of the squad, with competitors entered in sprints, relays, jumps, and field events for both men and women. The inclusion of 4x60 m relay teams and individual events such as high jump, long jump, and shot put demonstrates depth and preparation across disciplines.

Beach handball and beach kabaddi squads also feature prominently, with full men’s and women’s teams selected. These dynamic, fast-paced formats are expected to offer Sri Lanka strong medal opportunities given recent regional performances. In sailing, young athletes will compete in ILCA4 and Optimist classes, while beach volleyball fields two men’s teams and a women’s team. Beach wrestling adds further strength, with competitors in both men’s and women’s weight categories.

The Chief of Mission of the contingent is Samith Thilina. Sri Lanka’s flag bearers for the opening ceremony will be Lakshika Sugandhi and Haren Wickramatillake.
