Sri Lanka took a winning 3-0 lead in the five-match Women’s Under-19 T20I series when they beat Australia by six wickets under the DLS method in the third match played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium yesterday.

In a match reduced to 16 overs a side due to bad weather, Sri Lanka did well to restrict Australia to a score of 100-6, and then knocked the runs off in 15.1 overs. Sri Lanka were given a good start to their run chase by openers Sanjana Kavindi (run-a-ball 36 with 6 fours) and Vimoksha Balasuriya (25 off 20 balls, 5 fours).

Australia’s batting was unsettled by the off-spin of Aseni Thalagune and the seam of Limansa Thilakarathna, who shared four wickets between them. Emily Powell (32 off 38 balls) and Lucy Finn (31 off 22) were the principal scorers for Australia.

The fourth match of the series will take place tomorrow at the same venue.
