Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier warm-up match

Kavisha Dilhari showed her all-round prowess to take the Player of the Match award  

 

Sri Lanka won their first of two warm-up matches of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier beating Netherlands by 63 runs at Tolerance Oval on Sunday.

Batting first Sri Lanka ran up a total of 183-4 off 20 overs and then restricted Netherlands to 120-9.

With their captain Chamari Athapaththu taking a rest from this game Sri Lanka led by wicket-keeper/batter Anushka Sanjeewani proved too strong for the Dutch.

Vishmi Gunaratne and Hansima Karunaratne each made 49 before retiring, but Kavisha Dilhari with 29 and two wickets for nine runs took the Player of the Match award.

Vishmi struck seven fours in her 31-ball innings and Hansima hit three fours in the 39 balls she faced.

Sri Lanka play Vanuatu today in their final warm-up game at the same venue before meeting Thailand in the opening match of the Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier on 25 April.
