Sri Lanka sniff innings win in second U17 three-day game

Sri Lanka were sniffing victory in the second three-day Under-17 match against Bangladesh after skipper Rehan Peiris had scored a brilliant 182 and left-arm spinner Himaru Deshan had captured five wickets at the end of the second day at Bashundhara yesterday.

Sri Lanka continued from their overnight score of 183-2 declared at 335-7 with a first innings lead of 213. Peiris, who was unbeaten on 114, carried his score to 182 before being dismissed. He faced 286 balls and hit 17 fours and 2 sixes in his 422 minutes at the wicket. With Jason Fernando (65 off 125 balls, 5 fours, 1 six), Peiris added 142 for the third wicket.

In their second innings, Bangladesh slumped to 107-6 by the close, with Deshan spinning a web around the batsmen, ending the day with figures of 5/33. 

Bangladesh trail Sri Lanka by 106 runs with four second innings wickets in hand going into the third and final day today.

Bangladesh won the first three-day game played at Mirpur by 27 runs.
