All three medallists were sponsored by McLarens Holdings, underscoring the company’s continued commitment to developing Sri Lankan badminton talent.
In the Women’s Singles 50 Final, former national star Renu Chandrika de Silva put up a spirited fight before narrowly going down to Denmark’s Janne Vang Nielsen, losing 19–21, 21–23 in a gripping contest.
Sri Lanka’s badminton icon and Olympian Niluka Karunaratne added another chapter to his remarkable career, reaching the Men’s Singles 35 Final. He showcased his trademark resilience but fell just short against Thailand’s Suppanyu Avihingsanon, bowing out 6–21, 21–9, 18–21 in a thrilling three-set battle.
In the Mixed Doubles 40 Final, Nadeesha Gayanthi partnered Indonesia’s Unang Rahmat to earn a silver medal after a hard-fought campaign. The pair went down to M. Muhammad and J. Patrick, 18–21, 11–21, in the title clash.
