Four players named in Sri Lanka’s squad of 15 will make their debut at an ICC T20 World Cup. Batsmen Kamil Mishara, Janith Liyanage, and Pavan Rathnayake and fast bowler Eshan Malinga are the newcomers to the world event, which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka from 7 February to 8 March.
Also making a return to the T20 World Cup after missing the last edition of 2024 in the Caribbean and US is Kusal Perera, who has been named as a replacement for the top order batsmen and for his ability to play spin.
Mishara, Liyanage, Rathnayake, and Malinga all win their places on the back of some consistent performances in white-ball cricket.
Missing out on selection are Kamindu Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Dilshan Madushanka, and Nuwan Thushara from the squad that was selected for the last T20 World Cup in 2024.
All-rounder Dasun Shanaka will captain Sri Lanka.
