Sri Lanka Under-19 Women took a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20 series against touring Malaysia Women when they won the second match by seven wickets at the Colts grounds yesterday.
Choosing to bat first, Malaysia could manage only 94-7. Sri Lanka Under-19 were rattled in their run chase losing the first two wickets for 2 runs before an unbroken fourth wicket stand of 57 off 61 balls between skipper Manudi Nanayakkara (33* off 41 balls, 3 fours) and Shashini Gimhani (32* off 31 balls, 2 fours, 1 six) saw them home.
In their tour opener played at the NCC grounds, Malaysia lost to Sri Lanka Under-19 by 5 wickets. Opening batter Vimoksha Balasooriya took the limelight with an unbeaten half-century (53* off 44 balls, 8 fours) along with right-arm seamer Mithali Ayodhaya who returned figures of 3/9. For Malaysia, Mahira Izzati top scored with a run-a-ball 31 (2 fours).
The third match of the series takes place at Colts grounds tomorrow.
