Sri Lanka U19 crush Malaysia to take winning 3-0 lead in series

Sri Lanka Under-19 women cricketers came up with a convincing performance to crush the touring Malaysian women’s team by 118 runs at the Colts Ground yesterday and take a winning 3-0 lead in the five-match T20 series.

Winning the toss and batting first, Sri Lanka U19 women ran up an impressive total of 166-7, powered by a 42-ball 62 (10 fours) from opening batter Vimoksha Balasooriya. Rashmika Sewwandi (38 off 30 balls, 3 fours, 1 six) and Shashini Gimhani (20 off 14, 1 four, 1 six) also contributed. Nur Dania was the pick of the Malaysian bowlers, taking 3/20.

The Malaysian batting was swept away for 48 by the right-arm pace of Aseni Thalagune, who finished with figures of 5/10 off 2.5 overs.

The fourth match of the series takes place at the NCC Grounds tomorrow.
