The Sri Lanka Junior Match Play Golf Championship 2026 will mark a significant milestone when it celebrates its 10th edition at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) from today (3) to 6 August.
Perera & Sons teams up with Sri Lanka Golf for a record 10th time.
Organised by Sri Lanka Golf, the championship has become one of the premier events on the local junior golfing calendar, providing an ideal pathway for emerging talent to showcase their skills while gaining valuable competitive experience.
More than 100 golfers from Colombo, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Anuradhapura will compete alongside six overseas players representing Malaysia and the US, adding an international flavour to this year’s tournament.
The competition will be conducted in four age categories: Gold (15 to 18 years), Silver (13 to 14 years), Bronze (11 to 12 years), and Copper (10 years and under). Following the qualifying medal round, the top eight players in each division will advance to the knockout stage to battle for championship honours.
The prestigious Gold Division has once again been recognised as a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event, offering players the opportunity to earn valuable international ranking points.
The tournament is played for the Rukmini Kodagoda Trophy, honouring the former national golf and tennis champion.
The sponsors will also offer special awards, including prizes for a hole-in-one, the lowest gross score in each division, and Closest-to-the-Pin performances during the qualifying round, adding further excitement to the landmark championship. – [SJ]
