Sri Lanka Junior International Badminton Series 2025 kicks off in Gampaha

The Sri Lanka Junior International Badminton Series 2025 commenced, followed by a grand opening ceremony at the New Saniro Sports Complex in Naiwala, Gampaha yesterday.

The four-day international event, where leading badminton-playing nations are taking part, was declared open by the Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) President Roshan Gunawardena as the chief guest, with the presence of other distinguished guests.

Among others present at the opening ceremony were Tournament Committee Chairman Dinesh Jayawardena, SLB Vice President Buddhika de Silva, SLB General Secretary Ajith Wijesinghe, Organising Committee Secretary Jaliya Jayasekara and National Selector Kamal Gamlath. The games followed soon after the opening ceremony.

The tournament features competitions across Under-19, Under-17, Under-15, and Under-13 age categories, with matches being held in Boys and Girls in Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. All games will be conducted in line with BWF’s official laws and regulations. Beyond its international prestige, the event holds significant value for Sri Lanka’s own aspiring shuttlers, who will have the opportunity to face off against elite global talent and gain invaluable exposure to world-class competition.
