Sports Minister suspends registration of 5 sports bodies, including Netball

The Netball Federation of Sri Lanka is among five national sports bodies the Youth and Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa has suspended the registration of, under sections 32 and 33 of the Sports Law according to a gazette notification published on 13 July.

The other four sports bodies whose registrations have been suspended are: Sri Lanka Judo Association, Scrabble Federation of Sri Lanka, Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Jiu-jutsi Federation.

Director General of the Department of Sports Development Amal Edirisuriya has been appointed as the competent authority of the five sports bodies until such time elections can be held.
