South West Monsoon Meet tees off tomorrow

The Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC), is set to host its much looked forward South West Monsoon Meet 2025 tomorrow. It will be continued on 8, 14 and 15 June.

This year’s tournament promises four thrilling days of competitive golf, tradition, and camaraderie.

Calcutta Medal (One round nett)

Dating back to 1888, this historic medal was a gift from the Calcutta Golf Club. The competition will be held 7 June with the winner decided based on the best nett score of the round.

Victoria Cup (Two round nett)

Established in 1948 after the amalgamation of the Victoria Golf Club and RCGC, this challenge trophy spans two rounds (7 and 14 June), with the best aggregate nett score deciding the victor.

Squadron Cup (Four round nett)

First played in 1959, this newer competition will test players over four rounds (7, 8, 14 and 15 June). The best nett aggregate score across all rounds will take the prize.

Aggregate Gold Medal (Four round gross)

One of the most prestigious titles, awarded for the best gross score across the four rounds. In the event of a tie, the scorecard from the fourth round will serve as the decider.

Centenary Plate (Ladies board event)

A two-round stroke play nett competition for lady golfers (7 and 14 June) with a maximum playing handicap of 24. In case of a tie, the second round card determines the winner.

Maximum handicaps: 18 for board events, 24 for the Centenary Plate. Already more than 150 golfers have registered for this much looked forward events. (SJ)
