ICC Men’s T20 World Cup action saw South Africa register a commanding 57-run victory over Canada after posting a daunting 213/4 and then restricting their opponents to 156/8 in the allotted 20 overs.

South Africa’s total proved well beyond Canada’s reach, despite a defiant innings from Navneet Dhaliwal, who top-scored with 64 off 49 balls. Chasing 214, Canada were under pressure almost immediately and never recovered from early losses at the top.

Lungi Ngidi led South Africa’s bowling effort with four wickets for 31 runs, striking in the first over to remove Dilpreet Bajwa and returning to dismiss key middle-order batters as the chase faltered. Marco Jansen provided effective support, finishing with 2/30, while Kagiso Rabada and Corbin Bosch picked up a wicket apiece.

Earlier, South Africa’s batters laid the foundation with a powerful top-order display that lifted them to 213 for four. The depth and tempo of the innings left Canada chasing the game from the outset, with the bowlers then capitalising on scoreboard pressure.
