Former Isipathana College star Vice-Captain and current Kandy Sports Club Centre, National Sevens and Fifteens player Shaahid Zumri, has been named Captain of the Sri Lanka Under-20 Boys team set to compete in the Asia Rugby Under-20 Sevens Championship in Bihar, India next month.
This sevens event will take place on 9 and 10 August with the top 12 Boys and equal number of Girls teams will lock horns concurrently in the 2 day event.
A proven performer with composure and leadership qualities, Zumri’s appointment signals a strong and focused campaign ahead for the young Tuskers. Zumri also represented National Sevens team in Nepal last year plus part of the New Zealand Under-85 kg team tour to Sri Lanka when he represented the Sri Lanka outfit.
Supporting Zumri will be former St. Peter’s and CH and FC player, Pasindu Bandara, who has been appointed Vice-Captain. Bandara brings flair and tactical awareness, making him a vital playmaker in the squad.
The final 12 Players on the touring squad will see Shamli Nawas as the Head Coach of the outfit.
