Science Maroons win the Under-14 Cup segment

 

Science Maroons edged out the Hisham Abdeen Rugby Football Academy (HARFA) in the Under-14 Cup final of the FlyHi Sports Rugby Academy Tournament 2025 at Havelock Park last weekend. 

After full time, the game was deadlocked at 30 apiece, however, during the extra time, the lads from Mount Lavinia scored the winning try.

The FlyHi Sports Rugby Academy Tournament 2025 witnessed an exhilarating day of youth rugby action, with over 400 young athletes competing in various segments.

The tournament was a grand success, highlighting young rugby talent and fostering the spirit of competition. The event not only celebrated the winners but also emphasised teamwork, dedication, and the bright future of rugby in the region.

Shield final 

AMS Academy dominated by securing a resounding 25/0 victory against Goal Academy. Their exceptional performance saw them crowned Shield champions, while Goal Academy finished runner-up.

Bowl final 

Donz Academy emerged victorious in the Bowl final with a hard-fought 20/10 win over Cambrians Academy. Their impressive gameplay and resilience earned them the title while Cambrians Academy settled for second place.

Plate final 

Kandy Sports Club Academy displayed remarkable strength and strategy in the Plate final, defeating RPF Gold Academy with a convincing 20/0 scoreline.

Cup final

The most thrilling encounter of the tournament was the Cup final, where Science Maroons Academy and HARFA ended the match in a dramatic 30/30 draw. Extra time saw Science Maroons Academy edge out HARFA 5/0.(SJ)
