Sri Lanka Golf organised July Ranking Tournament will tee off today (8 July) and continue till 11 July at the Victoria Golf Resort in Rajawella.
Organised by the Sri Lanka Golf Union (SLGU), the tournament will be a 72-hole stroke play WAGR (World Amateur Golf Ranking) event, drawing the top talent in Sri Lankan golf.
Haroon Aslam back from the USA back in the Island on a holiday will tee off at his home course in Central Hills.
Other leading golfers would be Kumar Danushan, Reshan Algama, the highest-ranked junior amateur in Sri Lanka at present. Reshan who had an exceptional run in the past two months, securing a 4th place finish at the Nepal Amateur Championship 2025, and a 7th place at the Ciputra Junior Amateur in Indonesia. Back on home soil.
Chalitha Pushpika, Uchitha Ranasinghe, Jevahn Sathasivam, Chanaka Perera and Sachin de Silva also are the other leading golfers at this event.
A cut will be made after the first 36 holes, with only the top 15 male players (including ties) advancing.
Junior golfers will compete in a parallel 36-hole event on 10 and 11 July. (SJ)
