Sri Lanka’s leading Esports athletes were recognised and honoured at the SLESA National Esports Colours Awards Ceremony 2025. Organised by the Sri Lanka Esports Association (SLESA) for the second consecutive time, the ceremony celebrated the achievements of athletes who have represented Sri Lanka on the international Esports stage.

The National Esports Colours initiative, first introduced in 2023, is a landmark recognition programme that acknowledges Esports athletes who have represented Sri Lanka internationally in Esports. Sri Lanka remains one of the few countries in South Asia to formally recognise Esports athletes in this manner, reinforcing the country’s progressive approach towards the sport.

Esports was officially recognised as the 70th sport in Sri Lanka in 2019 and SLESA has since played a pivotal role in developing the ecosystem, standardising competition and enabling athletes to compete at global levels. The colours awards ceremony serves as a continuation of this effort, placing athletes at the forefront and celebrating their commitment, discipline, and achievements on the world stage.

Over 100 Esports athletes across multiple titles including PUBG MOBILE, DOTA 2, Counter-Strike 2, Mobile Legends Bang Bang, League of Legends, Arena of Valor, eFootball and Tekken were awarded National Colours in recognition of their participation at international tournaments such as the IESF World Esports Championship, Global Esports Games, Road to Asian Games, Asian Youth Games and other global competitions. These athletes represent the growing strength and diversity of Sri Lanka’s Esports talent pool, with both male and female competitors being recognised across multiple disciplines.

“National Esports Colours is more than an award, it is a symbol of representing Sri Lanka at the highest level. Our athletes have taken part in multiple major international tournaments, carrying the Sri Lankan flag onto global stages and proving their capability against top-tier competition. By recognising these achievements, we hope to inspire more young athletes to step forward and represent the nation in Esports,” said Sri Lanka Esports President Raveen Wijayatilake.
