Singhalese Sports Club (SSC) emerged as the top-ranked team amongst the 14 Premier Cricket Clubs at the end of the 2026/27 Limited Over and T20 tournaments conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
As per the new ranking system introduced by SLC for the 2026/27 season, Premier Clubs are ranked based on their performance after each major tournament, for which specific weightages have been assigned. Accordingly, the Limited Over tournament carries a weightage of 25% and the T20 tournament is assigned a weightage of 24%.The remaining 51% has been allocated for the three-day league tournament, which will begin in late November.
Following the completion of the Limited Over tournament and the T20 tournament, SSC finished on top with 6.37 weightage points. SSC entered both finals but finished as runners-up, losing to Moors SC and Tamil Union in the Limited Over and T20 finals, respectively.
CCC, who were semi-finalists in both tournaments, are ranked second with 5.64 weightage points, while Moors SC, who won the Limited Over tournament and made it to the quarter-finals of the T20 tournament, are ranked third with 5.54 weightage points.
Both the Limited Over tournament and T20 tournaments were played concurrently for the very first time and concluded within 5-6 weeks, during which clubs played as much as 12 games. However, several national players were unable to be part of the tournament due to national commitments, franchise obligations, and injury. NCC were minus nine players, while SSC and CCC were minus four players each. The absence of national players in these clubs gave the opportunity for Tamil Union and Moors (who were minus one player) to stamp their authority in the domestic circuit and win the championships.
After the completion of the two white-ball tournaments, Kurunegala YCC, Badureliya SC, and Nugegoda SC are lying at the bottom of the rankings. All three teams will have to come up with better performances in the three-day version if they are to avoid being relegated.
As per a directive given by the SLC Transformation Committee, the three teams that finish at the bottom of the rankings after the completion of all three tournaments will be relegated.
The table gives the final weightage points obtained by each club after the completion of the Limited Over and T20 tournaments. The weightage points and rankings have been compiled by the Daily FT following the final tournament points released by SLC and based on the new ranking system that was approved by SLC earlier this year.
