Through this tournament, young cricketers will be provided with a structured and competitive environment to showcase their skills even after leaving school.
The initiative is expected to create a sustainable pipeline of players who can progress to represent Sri Lanka at the international level.
A total of 26 teams representing cricketing districts across the island are competing in this T20 tournament, which is being played at venues around the country.
The representation includes four teams from the Western Province, three teams each from the Southern, Uva, Central, Eastern, and North Central Provinces, two teams from the North- Western Province and five teams from the Northern Province.
Each squad consists of 15 players, selected from the Under-19 district squads as well as the Development and Emerging Squads of the respective districts.
The tournament is being conducted in a round-robin league format and will run from 1 March to 8 April with a total of 50 matches played across the country on turf wickets. The tournament is organised in collaboration with the District and Provincial Cricket Associations affiliated with Sri Lanka Cricket.
