SLC President Shammi Silva
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) held an emergency meeting of its Executive Committee yesterday, but no official release was made of its outcome.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Shammi Silva and members of his Executive Committee are expected to resign from their positions today.
Reports said Silva was likely to step down following a request from the Government.
SLC sources said that no official announcement was made after the meeting as not all members of the Executive Committee were present.
According to sources, in the event of the President, Secretary and Treasurer of the SLC resigning, the Sports Law and the constitution of Sri Lanka Cricket says a Special General Meeting has to be held and subsequent nominations called for to elect a new set of office-bearers. An interim committee can be appointed only if the SLC is dissolved by the government and for a very valid reason. A gazette notification has to be issued before any further action can be taken.
