SLC clarifies Jonty Rhodes’ role

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) clarified that Jonty Rhodes has not been tasked to undertake the role of fielding consultant but will be coming to Sri Lanka only on an assignment basis whenever he is available.

SLC CEO Ashely de Silva said that it is the same with fast bowling Coach Bharat Arun and physio Alex Kountouris, whom the SLC has decided to obtain services from.

“They will be coming to Sri Lanka on an assignment basis, not on a full time role,” said De Silva.

“We have got in touch with Jonty Rhodes’ agent and made it known to him what our requirements are. Jonty will be in Sri Lanka whenever he is free from other engagements,” he said. “It is the same with the others Bharat and Alex.”

SLC was reacting to reports appearing on social media that Rhodes was unaware of the role announced by SLC, stating that it was news to him.
