A lively spell of bowling by Shehan Pramod who took a match bag of 15 wickets for 93 runs saw Negombo CC pull off a 120-run win over Leo CC and take full points in their SLC Under23 inter-club 2-day match concluded at Air Force grounds, Katunayake yesterday.

Pramod had already left his mark in Leo CC’s first innings, knocking them over for 141 with figures of 7/43. With a first innings lead of 76, Negombo CC closed their second innings at 152-4 leaving Leo CC to chase 229 for an outright win. But the Leo CC batting once again ran foul against Pramod who rattled them for 108 with a further 8/50.

In Negombo CC’s second innings, skipper Kaveen Fernando notched up his second fifty of the match scoring an unbeaten 64 off 76 balls (6 fours, 2 sixes) to follow his 52 in the first. – [ST]
