A Sri Lankan outfit is among the participants at the World Youth Scrabble Championship 2026 which commenced on 7 August at the Trademark Hotel, Village Market in Nairobi, Kenya.
This championship attracts young Scrabble players from over 22 countries, providing an opportunity for the world’s best emerging talents to compete at the highest level.
The Sri Lankan squad comprises Inam Irshad, Kevan Croos, Pasindu Wijewardena, Aathif Kamil Rishard, Tharin Kariyawasam, Imad Irshad, Kyaan Perera, Omiru Nandasiri, Aayush Haputhanthiri and the lone female representative, Kaumadee Balasinghe.
Players were selected by the Scrabble Federation of Sri Lanka through its established selection process and have been nominated to represent the country.
The World Youth Scrabble Championship is regarded as one of the premier international competitions for young players, testing vocabulary, strategic thinking, concentration and decision-making skills.
