Sri Lanka Boys, led by Mohamed Fawaz, ended the Asia Rugby Under-18 Sevens 2026 in the number 5 position, defeating India 34/7 in China yesterday.
In the Girls event, Sri Lanka beat Kazakhstan 12/5 to secure the 7th position, playing after a lapse of 8 years in the Asian region. Both Boys and Girls fell short in the end.
UAE shocked the much-fancied Hong Kong China, outclassing them 24/0, while in the Girls, China outclassed Hong Kong China 34/5 to secure the Cup win.
In the Boys, UAE ended as champions in the number 1 position, followed by Hong Kong China, China, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Taipei, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, in the Girls, China were champions, followed by Hong Kong China, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, UAE, India, Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan.
Day 1
Boys: Sri Lanka lost to Hong Kong China 24/7 and Malaysia 22/7, and beat India 12/0.
Girls: Sri Lanka lost to China 71/0, Kazakhstan 17/12 and Uzbekistan 25/5.
Day 2
Boys: Cup final - UAE beat Hong Kong China 24/0; 5th to 8th place - Sri Lanka beat Uzbekistan 19/7; 5th place - Sri Lanka beat India 34/7.
Girls: Final - China beat Hong Kong China 34/5; 5th to 8th place - Sri Lanka lost to India 41/0; 7th place - Sri Lanka beat Kazakhstan 12/5.
