Royal and St. Peter’s book quarter-final berths

The Dialog President’s Trophy Knockouts Rugby Tournament 2025 saw exciting action in the Round of 16, with the last two of the pre-quarter final encounters ending yesterday.

St. Peter’s College delivered a commanding performance against Thurstan College, sealing a massive 51/8 victory. St. Peter’s proved too strong, crossing the try line nine times and adding three conversions to their tally. The lads from Bambalapitiya scored nine tries while converting three of those, with Thurstan replying with a solitary try and penalty.

Royal College faced a tough battle against Kingswood College but managed to edge the Randles Hill outfit by 28/24. The lads from Reid Avenue scored four converted tries while the Kingswoodians too scored four tries, but were able to convert only two of them.

With these results, St. Peter’s and Royal joined Wesley College, Trinity College, Zahira College, D.S. Senanayake College, S. Thomas’ College, and defending champions Isipathana College in the quarter-finals.

All eight teams now prepare for an intense weekend of rugby action as the tournament reaches its critical stage.
