Reza Macan Markar and Edward Perera emerged winners of the Sarla Nagendra sponsored Bridge tournament held in her father late T. Murugaser’s memory.
The tournament was conducted under the auspices of the Sri Lanka Bridge Federation and took place at the Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club, the favourite venue of Murugaser and historic P. Saravanamuttu Stadium, also known as the
Colombo Oval.
Murugaser was a stalwart at the club over several decades, starting as a player and ending up as Patron and Trustee.
Suresh Murugaser welcomed the 50 contestants with a short speech outlining his father’s achievements and career. He also gave some little-known details of the club’s history and thanked the Chief Organiser and TN Member Adrian de Jacolyn Seneviratne, the SLBF and the club’s management and staff.
After the tournament, the contestants were hosted to an excellent lunch catered by
the club.
