Reshan Algama

Seventeen-year-old Reshan Algama showed remarkable poise and talent on the opening day of the MEDCO Pondok Indah International Amateur Golf Championship 2025 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Facing a competitive international field of 79 top amateur golfers representing the USA, Australia, Asia, and host nation Indonesia, Algama held his own, carding a composed 2-over-par 74 to finish tied for 13th position after Round 1. The performance places him within reach of the leaders heading into the crucial second and third rounds, highlighting his rapid ascent as one of Sri Lanka’s most promising young golfers.
Leading the field are Indonesia’s top-ranked amateur Jonathan Hartono and compatriot William Justin both shot impressive rounds of 3 under par 69. The local duo set the early pace in what promises to be a closely contested championship.
Among the other Sri Lankan players, Haroon Aslam returned a respectable 4 over par placing him tied for 25th place. Jacob Norton had a rough start, carding a 9 over 81 to end the day tied on 46th position. Sachin ended tied in 53rd position end of the initial day.
