Top class junior golfers Reshan Algama and Kaya Daluwatte both showed remarkable performances on Day 2 of the Faldo Series Asia Finals in Vietnam yesterday.
Reshan displayed exceptional composure and skill in the Boys Under-16 division, carding an even-par round to secure third place with an aggregate score of 141. Reshan now trails Vietnam’s Tuan Anh Nguyen, who leads with a superb 135, and compatriot Anh Ho, who is in second with a 138.
Meanwhile, Kaya Daluwatte turned in a remarkable one-under-par round to climb seven spots into third place in the Girls’ Under-16 category. Her two-day total of 147 now places her just three strokes behind the leader, Thailand’s Pimpakorn, who holds a narrow advantage with a score of 144. Japan’s Al Goto sits in second with a 146, setting up a thrilling final-day showdown. With her confident rhythm and precision, she iswell poised to challenge the leaders and apply pressure in the decisive round.
This achievement is a very good dividend to the growing strength of the junior golf program in Sri Lanka. As the tournament heads into its final day, anticipation builds for a potential historic finish by the asri Lanka youngsters Reshan and Kaya. (SJ)
