Sri Lanka’s top ranked junior golfer, Reshan Algama, and upcoming youngster, Jacob Norton, will represent Sri Lanka at the Medco Pondok Indah International Amateur Golf Championships 2025 which will tee off tomorrow in Jakarta, Indonesia. This tournament will be worked off over 3 days.
This event organised by the Indonesia Golf Association is regarded as one of the top amateur tournaments in the region, drawing top talent from across the globe. With a field limited to 140 of the best amateur golfers under 30, the competition offers chance for WAGR (World Amateur Golf Ranking) points up for grabs.
Reshan Algama enters the tournament with number of strong performances in recent months, including a confident overseas stint that has further to his growing reputation as an amateur golfer at just 17 years. The experience gained from his latest outings should give the 17-year-old the confidence to mount a serious challenge in Jakarta. Reshan was in supreme class leading from day 1 to complete clean sweep at the National Ranking Tournament which concluded 2 days ago in Rajawella.
Jacob Norton, continues his development and will gain crucial international experience as part of this high-level event. This tournament marks an opportunity for Norton to benchmark his game against some of the best young amateurs in Asia. Jacob ended on number 9 at the recently concluded NRT in Rajawella with over 40 golfers teed off at Rajawella.
Haroon Aslam and Sachin De Silva will also participate as private entries.
