The Faldo Series Sri Lanka 2026 continued to reaffirm its status as the premier pathway for junior golf development, as another high-quality competitive round unfolded under excellent playing conditions on its Round 2 on Friday at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC).

The event once again brought together elite young talent from Sri Lanka and the region, highlighting both skill and composure across age groups.

The standout performance of the day came in the 17-21 age-group segment, where left-handed Reshan Algama produced a sensational comeback to surge into the lead. Algama fired a stunning eight-under-par 63 in Round 2 – one of the finest rounds recorded at the RCGC in recent junior competition – to take the outright lead with a total of 134. This eight-under-par round remains a record by a member at the RCGC. Only pro Anura Rohana has achieved this at the same course with a 10-under-par on a particular round.

Algama’s round was marked by precision ball-striking, confident putting, and mature course management, highlighting his growing reputation as one of Sri Lanka’s most exciting junior prospects. His ability to bounce back emphatically showed his championship temperament.

Kumar Danushan continued his consistent run with a strong second-place position on 139, keeping himself firmly in contention heading into the final round.

Kaya Daluwatte, despite a challenging second-round 77, held on to third place with 142. A seasoned competitor at this level, Daluwatte is widely expected to mount a strong response on the final day. Her overseas exposure has taken her to a different level as this tournament has become a one-horse race in the Girls’ segment, with Daluwatte having no threats so far.

In the 13-16 age group, India’s Vivaan Ubhayakar delivered another composed performance to top the segment with a steady 143 total. Fellow Indian Karmanye Mahajan followed in second place on 150, while Sri Lanka’s Adithya Weerasinghe finished third on 152, continuing his encouraging upward trajectory

The 11-12 age group produced some highly entertaining golf, with Syed Mahbeer of Bangladesh emerging as the leader after an impressive 65. Jaeden Sathasivam, known for his fighting spirit, stayed in close pursuit on 72, while India’s Vivaan Singh claimed third with a solid 73

In the Faldo Futures 9-10 age group, Pakistan’s Ayra Yasin was in supreme form showing superb maturity, leading the field with an excellent score of 71. Sri Lanka’s Abhiman Abeywardhana too was in sparkling form, finishing on 78 to lead the Boys’ segment, while India’s Aashna Amogha, who also returned 78, secured third place.
