Rajans overcome Sylvester’s

Dharmaraja College registered a 33/22 victory over St. Sylvester’s College in their Schools Under-19 Rugby League encounter played at the Nittawela Rugby Stadium recently.

The Rajans led 22-17 at halftime.

Dharmaraja crossed the line for five tries in all and successfully added four conversions. St. Sylvester’s fought back bravely with three tries, two conversions, and a penalty, keeping themselves within striking distance for most of the game.

However, the Rajans tightened their defence and controlled possession better in the second half. Their forwards laid a solid platform while the backs capitalised on scoring opportunities to extend the lead and secure a well-deserved victory.

For Sylvester’s, their tries were scored by Kalana Abeysinghe, Mindina Jayathilaka, and Anuhas Wijesinghe. Sachin Chandrathilake converted two, while Imasha Nethsara put over a solitary penalty for Sylvester’s.

Dharmaraja scored their tries through Sasindu Dissanayake (2), Hansaka Fernando, Dulkith Dias, and Pawan Manodya. Sanuka Rathnayake converted four of them.

Referee Priya Suranga officiated the encounter.
