The Sri Lanka leg of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup got off to a rainy start, with only 7.3 overs being possible in the warm-up night match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, played at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Sri Lanka, put into bat first, lost their Captain Chamari Athapaththu cheaply for five, but recovered to score 33-1, with Hasini Perera doing the major part of the scoring – 21* off 28 balls with 3 fours.
The second warm-up game between South Africa and Bangladesh at the CCC Grounds also ended in a no-result, with only 9 overs possible. In that time, South Africa scored 45-3 with Marizanne Kapp scoring 21 and Marufa Akter taking 2/8.
Sri Lanka play Bangladesh in their second warm-up game at the CCC Grounds tomorrow.
