RCB and Kohli finally IPL champs

Royal Challengers of Bangalore (RCB) last night clinched the coveted 2025 Indian Premier League for the first time beating Punjab Kings by six runs in a tensed final.

Batting first, RCB scored 190 for loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Veteran Virat Kohli was the highest scorer with 43 off 35 balls. Other contributors were Jitesh Sharma 24 off 10 balls, Rajat Patidar (26), Liam Livingstone (25) and Captain Mayank Agrawal 24 off 18 balls. For Punjab Kings, Arshdeep Singh (3 for 40) and Kyle Jamieson (3 for 48) bowled well. In reply, Punjab Kings managed only 184 for loss of 7 wickets. After a good start Punjab lost their way losing key wickets. They scored 72 off in the first 8+ overs losing only two batsmen but lost wickets thereafter. Josh Inglish (39 off 23 balls) was threatening but after his dismal Punjab struggled. Shashank Singh made a valiant 61 not out off 30 balls with six ^s and 3 fours to give hope to Punjab Kings. He and Jamieson shared an unbroken 40 run partnership for the eighth wicket.

For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2 for 38), Krunal Pandya (2 for 17) bowled well.

It was RCB’s first final since 2016 and emerged champions.
