Prestige in every stroke: 114th Shakespeare Shield on 20 July at RCGC

The Shakespeare Shield returns to the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) on Sunday, 20 July 2025, for its 114th edition, continuing its legacy as Sri Lanka’s oldest and most prestigious corporate golf tournament.

This eagerly awaited event is open to members and teams from registered companies, diplomatic institutions, Government bodies, the Police, and the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka. Known for its spirited competition and longstanding tradition, the tournament brings together a distinguished field of players and organisations.

First held in 1911, the tournament was introduced in honour of W. Shakespeare, a former Director of Carson Cumberbatch PLC and a key member of the RCGC Committee since 1908. He pioneered the first inter-company Foursomes Competition, which evolved into what is now one of the most respected fixtures on the local golfing calendar.
