The Plate segment of the Dialog Schools Rugby League is heading for a pulsating climax with the title decider between D.S. Senanayake College and St. Joseph’s College scheduled for 3 August at the CR & FC Ground at Longdon Place. This crucial tie will determine who takes home the Plate Trophy in 2025.

St. Joseph’s College currently top the Plate standings with 18 points, just a single point ahead of the resurgent D.S. Senanayake outfit, who are sitting second on 17 points. With both teams having enjoyed consistent performances throughout the second round, this clash promises to be a hard-fought and thrilling affair, with the winner taking it all.

Referee will be Aruna Shantha.

Meanwhile, tomorrow, Zahira College will meet Ananda College at Rajagiriya. Zahira, currently fifth in the standings, have been the unluckiest side in the Plate segment, narrowly losing several games they had control of. They will be determined to finish their campaign strongly and aim for a third-place finish. Ananda College, who are currently fourth, will be wary of the Zahira challenge. A win for either team could significantly improve their final placement in the Plate table.

Referee will be Nipuna Amarathunge.

The last Plate segment match will feature Kingswood College taking on Sumangala College on 3 August at the Trinity College Rugby Stadium in Pallekele. Kingswood, placed third with 12 points, still have an outside chance of making a surprise finish if results swing their way. They must win their final two matches and hope for other outcomes to fall in their favour. Sumangala, though at the bottom of the table, will look to play spoiler and end their campaign on a high note.

Referee Kelum Sandaruwan will oversee the game.
