Peters and Joes lock horns for Fr. Basil Weeratunga Trophy

The much-looked forward St. Peter’s vs St Joseph’s Under 19 rugby encounter played for Rev. Fr. Basil Weerathunga Memorial Shield will take place tomorrow at Longdon Place.

Kick-off is at 4 p.m.

Out of 64 encounters, St. Peter’s leads with 44 wins, while the Joes have managed 15 victories while five games ending in draws. St. Peter’s last won in 2024, under the leadership of their No. 8 Dulaj Navodya at Bambalapitiya. The Joes last recorded a memorable win in 2018 at the CR & FC grounds.

St. Peter’s is led by national youth skipper of the Under 18 outfit, Vishenka Silva while Janith Marasinghe leads the Joes outfit. Sanath Martis is the Head Coach of the Peterites while Dulanjana Wijesinghe handles the Joes.
