The People’s Bank Cricket Team with Chief Executive Officer/General Manager Clive Fonseka and other officials
The People’s Bank Cricket Team emerged champions of the Nationalised Services Cricket League 2026 – Division II, defeating Bank of Ceylon (BOC) by a commanding 125 runs in the final played at the Nationalised Services Cricket Ground, Ratmalana.
Batting first after winning the toss, People’s Bank scored 210/9 in 40 overs, with Sahan Harshana top-scoring with 45 runs and Kasun Gunaratne contributing 40. BOC’s Nalaka Dharmakeerthi was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2/26.
In reply, BOC were bowled out after struggling to build momentum against the People’s Bank attack. Kalinga Kumara top-scored with 38 runs, while People’s Bank’s Piyushan Iruka produced an outstanding bowling performance, claiming 4/13 to spearhead his team’s victory.
The final was witnessed by People’s Bank Chief Executive Officer/General Manager Clive Fonseka, BOC Deputy General Manager – Branch Operations Priyal Silva, People’s Bank Deputy General Manager – Human Resources Manjula Dissanayake, and Deputy General Manager – Banking Support Services Indumini Rathnayake, together with the General Secretary and other officials of the Nationalised Services Cricket Association.
