ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026
Sri Lanka’s Nilakshika Silva has been included in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Team of the Tournament for her excellent contributions with the bat.
In picking Nilakshika the ICC stated: “Though Sri Lanka did not make it past the group stage, they put on some exceptional performances to finish third in Group B. The Lankans caused one of the biggest upsets of the tournament, as they defeated defending champions New Zealand by five wickets. Chasing a target of 151, Nilakshika Silva led Sri Lanka’s rebuild from 55/4. Silva’s unbeaten 54, with the help of five fours and a six, helped her team across the finish line in the final over. She also played cameos against England (39), West Indies (30) and Scotland (21 not out) to provide steel in the middle order.”
Australia proved their mettle on the grandest stage yet again as they defeated England by seven wickets in the final to capture the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title for the seventh time. While Australia finished the tournament unbeaten, England had also enjoyed a flawless run to the finals, giving the home crowd lots to cheer about. With the number of teams expanding to 12, there were standout individual performers from other teams in three weeks of intense action.
