Galle Gallants announced yesterday a new chapter in the franchise’s journey, confirming its ownership under Gallant Sports and Media LLC ahead of Lanka Premier League Season 6, scheduled to take place from 17 July to 8 August.
Led by Kiran Mantripragada and Uday Kiran Namballa, Gallant Sports and Media LLC will guide the franchise’s cricketing, commercial and media strategy as it prepares to compete in one of Sri Lanka’s leading sporting platforms. The franchise has also confirmed the appointment of Pubudu Dassanayake, the former Sri Lanka wicket-keeper/batsman as Head Coach, bringing experienced cricketing leadership into the team’s preparations for the upcoming season.
The new ownership marks an important step for Galle Gallants as the LPL continues to strengthen its competitive, broadcast and commercial footprint.
Welcoming the franchise into the upcoming season, LPL Director Samantha Dodanwela said, “Sri Lanka Cricket welcomes Galle Gallants as part of Lanka Premier League Season 6. The continued entry of committed franchise owners strengthens the league’s long-term vision and helps us build a more competitive and commercially sustainable T20 platform for Sri Lanka. We look forward to seeing Galle Gallants contribute to the quality, visibility and excitement of the tournament.”
As part of its squad-building strategy, Galle Gallants is assessing a strong mix of Sri Lankan talent and international marquee players ahead of the LPL Season 6 auction. International names under consideration include David Warner, Kane Williamson, Saqib, Sahibzada Farhan, Sunil Narine and Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
The franchise has also brought in Roy Silva, a Sri Lankan-born American cricketer, as Strategic Partner and Chief Operating Officer.
Gallant Sports and Media LLC owner and Principal Kiran Mantripragada said, “Owning Galle Gallants is a long-term commitment to building a disciplined and competitive franchise anchored by Sri Lankan talent, supported by international experience and guided by strong cricketing leadership. The Lanka Premier League provides a powerful platform to grow the game, build commercial value and connect with fans in Sri Lanka and around the world. Our focus is to build a franchise that performs with purpose, represents Galle with pride and contributes positively to Sri Lankan cricket.”
