The much awaited Sri Lanka Golf Ranking Tournament is set to take place from 4 to 7 March at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC).
This World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event will be played over 72 holes of stroke play, with a cut after the first 36 holes.
A Junior Ranking Tournament will also be held on 6 and 7 March, featuring 36 holes of stroke play, allowing emerging young talent to make their mark.
The highest-ranked Sri Lankan junior golfer as at date, Jevahn Sathasivam from Asian International School, will unfortunately miss out due to injury. Among the key names to watch for are Chalitha Pushpika (the highest-ranked amateur), a consistent performer in national-level events, Reshan Algama, who held the title of Sri Lanka’s highest world-ranked amateur for most of 2024, his exposure in Thailand helping him, and Uchitha Ranasinghe and Yannik Kumara, both of whom have showed their potential in previous ranking tournaments.
Meanwhile, Jacob Norton, who had gathered much needed exposure in Thailand, will be looking to steal the limelight with a strong performance in this tournament.
The final results of this tournament will be used as a yardstick to select the national team for the Pakistan Amateur, which will take place in April 2025.
